College Ambience


Day and date: 14th and 15th March 2024, Thursday and Friday

Time: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Objective:

Ambience Enhancement: The primary objective was to uplift the visual appeal of the college premises through artistic expression on the floors, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

Student Engagement: Engaging first-year B.Arch students in a practical activity that allows them to apply their creative skills outside the classroom environment.

Community Bonding: Fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration among students and faculty members through a collective project.

Brief:

In an effort to enhance the ambience of our college environment and foster a sense of creativity and community engagement, a floor painting activity was organized. This initiative was led by Ar. Prachi Pande, Ar. Kajal Sawant with the guidance of Principal Sir, Dr. Mahendra Sonawane along with the enthusiastic participation of first-year (B.Arch) students.
The floor painting activity was conducted over a span of two days, allowing ample time for planning, preparation, and execution.

Planning and Design: The faculty members provided guidance and oversight, ensuring that the selected designs aligned with the overall theme of ambience enhancement.

Preparation: Necessary materials such as paint, brushes, stencils, and protective gear were arranged. The selected areas for painting were cleaned and prepped to ensure a smooth surface for the artwork.

Execution: Students worked collaboratively in groups, each assigned to a specific section of the floor. Under the supervision of faculty members, they meticulously brought their designs to life, paying attention to detail and precision.

Final Touches: Upon completion of the painting, final touch-ups were made to refine the artwork and ensure its longevity.

Outcomes:

Visual Transformation: The floor painting activity resulted in a remarkable visual transformation of the college premises. The vibrant and aesthetically pleasing artworks added character and charm to otherwise mundane spaces.

Student Empowerment: Participating students gained valuable hands-on experience in translating their creative ideas into tangible artworks. This not only honed their artistic skills but also boosted their confidence and sense of achievement.

Sense of Ownership: By actively contributing to the enhancement of their college environment, students developed a sense of ownership and pride in their campus.

Community Building: The collaborative nature of the activity facilitated interactions and camaraderie among students and faculty members, strengthening the sense of community within the college.

Subject : Enhancement of Permanent Ambience at S.B.Patil College of Architecture & Design, Nigdi for all the Events held in academic year 2023-24.

Objective: To enhance the Permanent Ambience at S. B. Patil College of Architecture & Design, Nigdi for all the Events held in Academic Year 2023-24.

Brief:

As per the quarterly meeting conducted for the Ambience work with Respected Principal Dr. Mahendra Sonawane Sir & the Ambience team, a list of events has been prepared that have been scheduled for the academic year as per the academic calendar. In this report, we have shown the ambience enhancement done for International Conference event held by SBPCOAD on 17th & 18th July 2023.

Faculty in charge of the Ambience portfolio, further works collectively towards the enhancement of Ambience for all the Events under Principal Sir’s guidance. A group of students volunteered to assist the respective faculties’ in-charge for the execution of work.

Following are the few items of work that were identified & finalized for the same:

  • All the notice boards, white boards & display boards in the college premises to be updated regularly w.r.t the events held on those particular days.
  • Arrangement of planters in the college premises to enhance the lobby areas & to decorate the ornamental flower vase near the Admin area with fresh flowers & scented diyas.
  • All the common passage areas have been lit up with halogen light fittings so as to ensure that we have good light exposure for the group photographs that are clicked during various events.
  • Name Tags to be provided for the new joined staff members as per college’s format.
  • To assist other staff members related to their printing work from the vendor like flex & sticker printing required for enhancement of college ambience.

Subject : Enhancement & renovation of Second floor of SBPCOAD College building with respect to SBPCOAD conference & inauguration of art gallery.

Objective: To enhance and update the Permanent Ambience of Second floor including all the connecting & interactive passage areas and the wall surfaces.

Brief of the Event:

Respected Principal Sir along with the ambience team monitored & surveyed the entire college building in order to identify the areas where the renovation / upgradation had to be done for conduction of SBPCOAD conference & inauguration of student’s art gallery.

Faculty in charge for Ambience portfolio were further guided & instructed by Principal Sir regarding how the ambience can be uplifted using various mediums of display & presentation.

Following are few items of work that were identified & finalized for the same:

  • Wall Painting showing informative architectural graphics & drawings to be done on few walls.
  • Upgradation of existing committee boards and addition of new foam boards wherever required as well as all the name tags as per the new college logo.
  • Vinyl sticker & Flex printing displaying informative content related to architecture & allied fields in architecture that shall help the students to gain more knowledge.
  • Acrylic sandwich panels to be installed at various intervals in the passage area on 2nd floor, displaying various information & content about allied fields in architecture such as sustainability, landscape architecture, environmental architecture & various site visits done by students etc.
  • Wall painting to be done on second floor for enhancing our college’s ambience.
  • Foam boards (Hitlon sheets) to be pasted in all the class rooms & passage area on 2nd floor & wherever necessary on ground, 3rd & 4th floors.

Sequence of activities held:

  • There was a monitoring round by Principal Sir with Ambience team on ground, second & fourth floor of SBPCOAD college building. It was observed the existing boards of committees & various activities had to be upgraded & the existing walls had to painted bright white in order to enhance the overall ambience of 2nd floor.
  • An approval note for sanctioning the budget including material procurement, labor charges, printing / plotting charges for vinyl stickers, architectural drawings & flex print, carpenter approval and activity regarding the same was initiated and completed.
  • The activity started with cleaning, scrapping and removing previous displays on walls and making them ready with white wash for new architectural graphics & designs.
  • A meeting was held by ambience team under Principal Sir’s guidance, where they allocated the items of work to be done to the respective faculties & explained them the overall idea & concept behind this upgradation.
  • A short tour of college was again carried out by Principal Sir, where he showed the respective faculties the walls & areas to be redesigned or enhanced along with the ambience team.
  • Notice for areas & tasks to be done allocation to the respective faculties and their student’s team was initiated to start the designing process for architectural graphics & paintings, flex design, vinyl sticker design, etc.
  • Requirements, details, deadlines and schedule with reference to respective walls included in Ambience development were provided by the faculty in charge to the faculties.
  • Faculties in charge shall work on their respective areas, come up with ideas, discuss with Principal Sir & get them approved prior the activity.
  • Schedule of three consecutive working days is provided for the said activity which is 22nd June to 24th June 2023. All the faculty-in charge, student volunteers and admin representative are asked to accomplish this activity successfully during these days.
  • Volunteer & willing Students of all the years are also asked to join this activity wherein a group of 5-6 students will be guided by 1 faculty member.
  • This shall help students to get hands on experience of wall painting, exploring their creative ideas, encouraging their young minds to flourish, learn architectural cutting techniques & encourage their interaction & bonding with fellow students & faculties.
